Welcome to our Veterinary Practice


The Beech House Veterinary Centre is based in Bitterne, with a branch surgery at Coldeast (Park Gate).

We are an RCVS (Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons) Approved Practice to Tier 2. Vetcall (Southampton), is an RCVS Approved Emergency Services Clinic.

Beech House is fully air-conditioned for the comfort of your pet, yourselves & our staff.

Our services include routine health checks (with advice on worming & flea control), vaccinations, microchipping, & neutering of healthy pets.

We are also able to provide a full service for The PETS pet passport scheme.

Should your pet need treatment, we have an extensive range of in house equipment, including piped Isoflo anaesthesia, X Ray (with automatic processing) & ultrasound machines, an air driven dental station, & a laboratory.

We have 5 veterinary surgeons, 3 fully qualified veterinary nurses, & 5 in training, with other support staff as well.

We have ready access to specialists in many fields when we feel this is required.

Beech House Veterinary Centre was established in 1956 by Mr Tom Kennea on Lances Hill, moving to Beech House in 1964. Mr Kluth & Mr Oxenham developed the practice in the '70's and '80's. Mr Kluth, who qualified in 1960, joined the practice in 1961. In 1981 he was President of The British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA). Mr Oxenham qualified in 1959, and joined the practice in 1968. He was co-author of the 1991 edition of the BSAVA'sManual of Exotic Pets. Mr Campbell qualified in 1981, and joined the practice in 1983. He is now assisted by five other veterinary surgeons, a practice manager, a growing number of qualified and trainee veterinary nurses (Beech House is a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Approved Training Practice), and other administration & reception staff.
